Stickman Records was founded in late '94 for the sole purpose of releasing and promoting the music of the norwegian band Motorpsycho. We discovered a few other great bands along the way and now, years later, we can look back on dozens of releases, from more than 20 bands, on Stickman and Sticksister.
The mothership Stickman concentrates on good uncommercial independent rock in the broadest sense of the word. We have a definite weakness for weirdness, reflected in such releases as The Tussler soundtrack and the Matt Burt album. And what is particularly important to the Stickman sound is the fact that any band signed is done so only after getting the thumbs-up from Motorpsycho themselves. It's anybody's guess what their criteria is - all we know is that it's almost impossible to pass the motorpsychodelic crash-test! That's fine with us, because we have no interest in having a huge catalog and are much more concerned with keeping our own particular label "identity".
Two years after starting up Stickman, we started up the sublabel "Sticksister Records" which offers a forum for more pop and emo-oriented bands. These bands have their roots solidly in the 90's and we suspect that they appeal to a younger crowd than some of our Stickman bands.
From our extremely humble beginnings we've grown into a small yet important part of the european independent music scene. And we're slowly expanding to more territories as the quest for world domination continues...
